All the off-road adventure lovers out there are familiar with the type of inconvenience an off-road journey can offer. Your journey for relaxation can turn into a nightmare for a

Muddy road or a tree log blocking the road or a ditch. To avoid that stress, keeping a winch by your side during the journey can prove to be a masterstroke. You won’t need anyone’s help even if your car gets stuck in the middle of nowhere when you have a winch with you.

AC-DK is a leading off-road accessories brand that specializes in recovery winches. Their collection of hydraulic and electric winches is sturdy, versatile, and reliable to say the least.

In this piece, I will try to explore some of their excellent electric winch options that offer the best value for money. Make sure to check out each one of them.

AC DK Winch Review

1. AC-DK 12000 Lbs Electric Winch Review

This 12000 lbs. electric winch from AC-DK is the perfect blend of versatility, power, and value. Now let’s break down why I said that. If you look at the features of this medium-heavy weight range winch, you will also agree with me. You can use the winch for pulling Jeep, Truck, Boat, Car, Utilities, etc. which ensures versatility.

Then in the power section, it comes in two different pull capacity versions, 12000 and 13000 lbs. Each version comes with a synthetic rope which is lighter and stronger compared to the old-fashioned steel cable. But if you are a fan of the steel cable, you have that option too.

For the power supply, it has a copper motor with 6 horsepower generating capability that will make the winching experience smoother. Along with that, there is a 3-stage planetary gear train installed in it which has a gear ratio of 265:1.

You will get an 85 feet long rope with a diameter of 3/8” so you will be able to pull cars from many awkward places with reliability. The hawse fairlead (for synthetic rope) or 4-way roller fairlead (for steel cable) will guide the rope back on the drum in an organized way.

The traction drag speed when the rope is empty is 21.3 ft/min and with the full load, it is 4.1 ft/min. It also comes with an automatic drum brake system which will get engaged automatically if you exceed the weight limit. It is directly connected to your safety.

Two wireless remote control with the ability to work from almost 50 feet of distance will ensure that you can control the winch by standing at a safe distance. The addition of a pair of safety gloves makes it safer to handle the rope.

This winch has a waterproof rating of IP67 so you can work with it in wet and muddy places too. Lastly, the price tag on this one is very moderate, so it won’t cut a big hole in your pocket.

Pros

  • The stainless steel body of this winch is sturdy and durable
  • The use of synthetic rope will ensure a stronger pull
  • Powerful motor with a 3-stage planetary gear train
  • IP67 waterproof rating
  • Ideal for medium-weight range vehicles
  • Aluminum fairlead is used for guiding the rope
  • Good value for money

Cons

  • The wireless remotes are not waterproof
  • The installation process might require the help of a professional

2. AC-DK 13000 Lbs. Electric Winch Review

This one is slightly more powerful than the previous one as it has 13000 lbs. pulling capacity. AC-DK filled this one with all the amazing features too just like the 12000 lbs. version. If you think that you need a little more power than 12000 lbs. by your side, then you can check out this one.

The 6.0 HP series wound engine motor is powerful enough to pull off a smooth pulling operation. This one also has a 3-stage planetary gear train with a 265:1 gear ratio. With those by your side, you will never face any problems regarding power generation and supply.

The unique clutch brake system will ensure excellent control and safety during fieldwork.

In the cable section, you can choose between synthetic rope and steel cable as per your preference. The synthetic rope will be lighter and easy to handle though. The cable has a diameter of 3/8” when the length of the cable is 85 feet. 4-way roller or hawse fairlead will be there depending on the type of rope version you choose.

The IP67 water and dustproof rating will provide peace of mind as you can use it outside without worrying about water, dust, or mud damaging it or making it dirty.

1 wireless remote is provided with the package for a safe and convenient winching experience. The price of this electric winch is also very competitive.

Pros

  • Ideal for car, truck, boat, and utility vehicles
  • High weight pulling capacity
  • Powerful motor
  • Two rope version
  • Dust and water-resistant
  • Affordable price

Cons

  • The wireless remote is not waterproof

3. AC-DK 4500 Lbs. Electric ATV/UTV Winch Review

Now I’ll discuss a low-capacity winch with a load capacity of only 4500 pounds. This one can be used to complete certain small tasks. It’s an ideal winch for UTVs and ATVs of this type. It has a 1.4 horsepower motor that will provide enough pulling force to tow your small vehicles.

It comes with a motor cooler, which is a good addition. The motor cooler will keep the heat out and guarantee that it lasts a long time. It is also equipped with a 3-stage planetary gear system for convenient performance.

This winch is available in synthetic rope as well as steel cable versions, the synthetic rope is more lightweight than steel cable. With a full load, it moves at 3.3 feet per minute, and without a load, it moves at 9.8 feet per minute.

The rope pulling job is made easier and smoother with a hawse fairlead or heavy-duty 4-way roller fairlead. It comes with a rope stopper and safety gloves, which are useful for safe operation handling.

You will get a wireless remote and a hand remote to control the winch from a distance.

The steel cable version is priced a little lower than the synthetic rope version. Both winch versions are very affordable.

Pros

  • Ideal for small weight pulling jobs
  • Available in two different cable versions
  • Very easy to handle
  • Powerful, reliable, and fast performance
  • Good value for the money

Cons

  • Not waterproof

Verdict

All the AC-DK winches I reviewed here have great potential of becoming anyone’s favorite off-road gear. You can get any one of them and be sure to get the best output in the field. Of course, the decision depends on your need and vehicle type.

If you need a higher weight capacity the 13000 lbs. version will serve you the best as it costs only a bit higher than the 12000 lbs. version. On the other hand, the 4500 lbs. version will offer to handle all your lightweight pulling jobs more effectively.
