Usually, there are seven hitch pin sizes. They are:
Threaded Hitch Pin Sizes
For the vehicles that have 1-1/4″ receivers, the threaded hitch pin sizes are (1/2″ x 13 threads per inch). These hitch pins are the standard hitch pin. You will find these types of hitch pin on the rack that has a locking system.
For a smooth hitch pin, the pin size will be 1/2″ and 5/8″ in diameter for a 1-1/4″ and 2″ receiver respectively.
Hitch Pin Clip
Well, the hitch pin clip means fasteners. These clips are used for protecting and preventing your hitch from being disoriented from the primary intended application. The upside of these types of clips is they can be reused and reinstalled. Some pins may require the use of additional tools for installing them.
Locking Hitch Pin Sizes
When it comes to locking a hitch pin, the diameter of a hitch pin should be 5/8″ for a 2″ receiver.
Again, you need to select a 1/2″ pin for your class 1 and 2 1-1/4″ trailer. Because the lifespan of this pin is 2″ which is the perfect locking pin length. The 1/2″ is the perfect hitch pin size.
Ram 1500 Hitch Pin Size
Well, the size of a ram 1500 hitch pin is 2″ only. Before you deal with this type of hitch pin, you need to ensure that the tires are in good condition. Otherwise, there is a possibility of a crush.
Class 3 Hitch Pin Size
In order to deal with a class 3 or class 4 2″ hitch and class 5 2-1/2″ hitch, you need to use a hitch pin that has a 5/8″ diameter and 3-5/8″ span.
