The grill of a Jeep is an external protective sheet of the jeep. All kinds of grills are made of plastic. But there are some grills which are made of steel. The grill on your jeep protects the radiator and keeps your engine from getting overheated. The machine is secured by the grille,  which keeps out any flying off-roading debris thrown up by the tires.

If you own a Jeep, you need to remove the grill for some specific reason. You can take off your grill by following a few simple procedures. The removing process of the grill is:

  • Unscrew the plastic pins
  • Disconnect the turning signal
  • Pull the grill

It seems that the removal process for all types of jeep grill is almost similar. However, different procedures exist in some jeeps for removing the grill. This is discussed further down.

Removing the grill is a simple procedure. Anyone who does not have any mechanical experience can take off the grill in no time. In the following, I have mentioned removing the grill by giving steps.

Step 1:

Firstly, you have to open the hood of your jeep. Then take a screwdriver. It will be easy for you to choose a flat head screwdriver.

Step 2:

There are six push pin clips on top of the grill. These pins are black and made of plastic. Pull out all of these six pins using the screwdriver. A clip has two parts, the central part and the outside portion. Use the screwdriver to pinch the clip. Then it will lift, so pull the whole pins and come out. Don’t break or lose your push pin clips because you have to reuse them. If you lose and break your clip, you can buy them from the internet or workshop. There are also some retaining clips at the bottom edge.

Step 3:

Grip the top of the grill and pull it. Behind the lower outboard corner of the grill, there are two turn signal lights. They both are connected with the grill. You have to disconnect them. To remove the turn signal, press the red push clip and then twist the connector tab. It is important to note that all kinds of jeep grills are not connected with the turn signal light.

Step 4:

At last, you have to pull the grill towards you. It may take a little struggle to come out because retaining clips are in the bottom. Remove them one by one.
