3 Steps of Using a Winch to Cover Your Pool
Step 1: Winterizing the Pool
Before start covering the pool using a cover, you should prepare your pool first for the winter. For this, you should clean your pool first thoroughly. Then, make sure that you have disconnected the filtration systems and all pumps. Dont forget to reduce the water level also.
The water level of your pool should be a minimum of 4 inches lower than the skimmer level. The water level is reduced to avoid overflowing issues. You will face the overflowing problem when you will go through the cover tightening process. However, when you will find the water level is at the desired level, you need to make sure the return and skimmer sittings are sealed properly.
Once you are done with this, you need to apply the necessary chemicals that are applied while closing the pool. These chemicals include pool winterize, rust protector, pool shock and other essential chemicals for preserving your pool integrity.
Step 2: Spread the Pool Cover Above the Pool Ground
In the second step, you need to spread your pool cover above your pool ground. This step is quite simple and self-explanatory. However, still there are some precautions you need to keep in mind while going through this step.
The cover you will be used for covering your pool should be larger than your pool. It should not be the accurate size of your pool. It is recommended to bring a cover that is 3 feet wider than your pool size. As a result, you will find that your pool top is covered totally and also there will be adequate materials hanging on the sides.
When you will be laying your pool cover, keep in mind that there should be evenly extra materials hanging at every side. This will help to make the winch tightening process easier.
Step 3: Secure the Pool Cover Using a Winch
Once you are done with placing the cover around the top of your pool, now you should secure it. In order to do that, you need to weave the cable through the holes you will see at each edge of your pool cover. Once you will find that the whole perimeter of your cover is laced with the rope, then you need to pull the rope for tightening it.
